The Regina Minor Rugby model has been developed to ensure that there is a consistency of play, coaching and player welfare at all levels throughout the country, and is a great way of getting kids involved in a team sport.

FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact the Regina Minor Rugby team at reginaminorrugby@nullgmail.com with any questions you should have.

Q: I don’t know any rules of rugby and my child has never played before, can they still register?
A: Absolutely, all of our coaches are trained in the rules of rugby and learning together with their peers is part of the fun.

Q: From what I know about rugby, it is a high contact sport, isn’t it too rough for kids to play so young?
A: Safety of your child is always important and our coaches teach the fundamentals of team work and safety at all times. Saskatchewan Mini Rugby began playing “flag rugby” which does not include scrums, line-outs and contact that you see in traditional rugby games. For more info please visit www.saskrugby.com.

Q: How long is a practice/game?
A: Minis typically practice or play a game for an hour, this includes, warm-up, playing time and breaks.

Q: When are the practices/games?
A: The season will hold practices/games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Q: What equipment does my child need to play?
A: Shorts or pants that are easy to run, jump, roll and play in, a t-shirt or sweatshirt depending on weather, a well fitting pair of runners; cleats and a mouth guard are necessary. A water bottle and small towel are useful too to keep your mini cool and hydrated. This is the prairies, so don’t forget layers are sometimes key, and bug spray is sometimes a must.

Q: Where do I register?
A: You can register online. The link will be posted on here and on our social media pages. Stay tuned!

Q: What do I need to register my child?
A: You will need all their personal information.

Q: How much does it cost and how can I pay?
